Snell’s ICS Sub24mk3 is a direct descendent to world’s first THX Ultra2 Subwoofer, the Snell ICS Sub24. The mk3 version exceeds the challenging requirements of Ultra2’s specifications, while living up to Snell’s legendary performance standards for both music and cinema. Its size conforms to today’s architectural requirements, and easily fits into built-in cabinets and millwork.

THX requires a response that follows a precise Linkwitz-Reilly shape from 20Hz to 200 Hz. Furthermore, extremely high output levels at very low distortion levels are required (117dB at 80Hz!). To meet these specifications we use two of our best 12-inch woofers and a new 550 watt amplifier and place them in a heavy and highly braced 29”h x 17.5”w x 22.5”d cabinet. The front-ported cabinet design allows this sub to stand tall, lay on its side, or even fire downward.
