Versatile Wall-mount Surround Select for Diffuse or Direct Operation
The SR7 is a high-performance, wall-mount, surround speaker with a selectable radiation pattern. Like most Snell surrounds it can be used as a diffuse dispersion dipole or a wide dispersion monopole. In the diffuse mode, the SR7 directs its energy away from the listening area, performing like an array of movie theater surround speakers. This creates a diffuse, lifelike ambient soundfield. In the direct mode the SR7 functions as a wide dispersion direct radiator, perfect for localized surround effects. Beautifully made and styled to match Snell’s Series 7 line of in-room speakers, the SR7’s shallow cabinet houses a 5 1/4-inch long throw woofer mounted under a 1-inch cloth dome tweeter. This tweeter is in operation in the “Direct” mode. In the “Diffuse” mode, the side mounted 2 1/2 inch tweeters replace the front tweeter. Most system designers specify three or four surrounds; diffuse speakers for sides and direct speakers for rear surrounds. The SR7 is designed for both. Voiced to match all Snell speakers, it mounts easily and virtually disappears on the wall.
